LOOP Products Furling Thimble for 11mm Rope
LOOP Products offer two distinct ranges of furling thimbles, developed to suit different sail and furler integration requirements.
The traditional range uses a straightforward geometry with a dedicated pin hole for connection to the furler drum or swivel, and a single, smooth lashing eye for attaching the sail. This design provides a clean and reliable interface for furling sails where a simple, clearly defined load path is preferred.
The modern, optimised range has been developed to maximise compatibility across the widest possible cross-section of furling systems. These thimbles are standardised around industry-standard torsional rope diameters and feature an oversized pin bore, allowing them to work with a broader range of furler jaw widths and pin sizes. This makes them particularly well suited to modern code zero and asymmetric furlers used with torsional ropes.
When selecting a furling thimble, there are three critical dimensions that must be considered:
- Thimble width, which must fit cleanly within the furler drum or swivel jaws
- Pin diameter, which must be compatible with the furler’s jaw pin
- The diameter of the torsional rope the thimble is designed to carry

Where required, simple bushings can be used to provide a clean, well-aligned fit with smaller pin diameters.
The double lash-hole arrangement provides greater flexibility when attaching the tack or head of a sail, allowing the lashing layout to be adapted to suit different sail designs and load paths. This also helps distribute loads more evenly compared to single-eye designs.
Manufactured from high-quality black anodised aluminium, the thimble offers an excellent balance of strength, low weight and long-term corrosion resistance. The straight-sided geometry allows it to sit cleanly inside common furler jaws, while the smooth, radiused lash holes are designed to minimise wear on modern high-performance rope fibres.
