LOOP Products Furling Thimble – 8mm Pin
LOOP Products offer two distinct ranges of furling thimbles, developed to suit different sail and furler integration requirements.
The traditional range uses a straightforward geometry with a dedicated pin hole for connection to the furler drum or swivel, and a single, smooth lashing eye for attaching the sail. This design provides a clean and reliable interface for furling sails where a simple, clearly defined load path is preferred.
A second, optimised range has been developed for maximum compatibility across the widest cross-section of modern furlers. These designs are optimised around jaw width, pin diameter and rope interface, and are intended specifically for use with code zero and asymmetric furlers in combination with torsional ropes.
When selecting a furling thimble, there are three critical dimensions that must be considered:
- Thimble width, which must fit cleanly within the furler drum or swivel jaws
- Pin diameter, which must be compatible with the furler’s jaw pin
- The diameter of the torsional rope the thimble is designed to carry

The LOOP Products Furling Thimble – 8 mm Pin is designed to interface with furler drums or swivels using an 8 mm pin and is suitable for torsional ropes up to 8 mm diameter. It provides a smooth, rounded lashing eye for securely attaching the tack or head of a sail and is manufactured from high-quality black anodised aluminium, offering an excellent balance of strength, low weight and corrosion resistance for long-term marine use.
The straight pin hole geometry allows the thimble to sit cleanly inside common furler jaws, while the generously radiused lashing eye is designed to accommodate sufficient lashings without damaging rope fibres. This makes it well suited to code zero and asymmetric sails where a soft, lashing-based attachment is preferred.
