Selden CXr 15 Code Zero Furler
The Selden CXr 15 Code Zero Furler is a high-performance furling system designed for modern Code Zero, Jib Zero and structured reaching sails on performance cruising and racing yachts. With a Safe Working Load of 1500 kg, the CXr 15 sits at the entry point of Selden’s CXr range, delivering precise sail control, smooth furling under load and exceptional reliability.
This product (Selden part number 546-100-10) is supplied as a complete basic kit, including the furling drum (546-100-01) and halyard swivel (546-122-01). Both components are also available separately, allowing the system to be tailored or expanded as your sail inventory evolves.
Designed for Code Zero and Structured Reaching Sails
The CXr 15 is optimised for sails with a straight or lightly curved luff, typically using an integrated or external anti-torsion cable. High luff tension combined with efficient torque transmission ensures the sail furls cleanly and evenly from the bottom up, even as loads increase.
This makes the CXr 15 an ideal solution for:
-
Code Zero sails
-
Jib Zero sails
-
Light-to-medium staysails
-
Flat cruising gennakers designed for bottom-up furling
New-Generation Ratcheting Furling Drum
A defining feature of the CXr range is Selden’s bi-directional ratchet system, integrated directly into the furling drum. The ratchet automatically adapts to the direction of rotation, allowing the sail to be furled in controlled stages without the risk of accidental unfurling.
This significantly reduces physical effort when furling larger sails and provides an added layer of safety when hoisting, furling or leaving the sail furled on deck. The ratchet can also be disabled, if required, using optional ratchet prevention plugs for race-oriented setups.
Robust, Lightweight Construction
The CXr 15 combines low weight with high structural strength, using a mix of composite materials, machined aluminium and high-strength Duplex stainless steel in all load-bearing components.
Key construction features include:
-
Sealed steel bearings in both drum and halyard swivel for long service life
-
Impact-resistant drum cover
-
Stainless steel line guide with polished, low-friction surfaces
-
Captive pins with spring-loaded locking mechanisms to prevent accidental release
This construction keeps weight forward to a minimum while maintaining excellent durability in offshore and performance sailing environments.
Compatible with Anti-Torsion Cables and Selden Nail Terminal
The CXr 15 is designed to work with 11 mm anti-torsion cables, ensuring fast and efficient torque transmission along the full luff length. It is fully compatible with Selden’s AT-cable systems, including their highly torsion-rigid DynIce®-based cables.
For a clean and compact termination, the system can be integrated with Selden’s torsional rope Nail Terminal, allowing the anti-torsion cable to connect directly into the CXr hardware without bulky clamps or thimbles.
Convertible to Top-Down Furling
While supplied as a bottom-up furling system, the CXr 15 can easily be converted for top-down furling, making it suitable for asymmetric spinnakers and fuller downwind sails.
Two top-down adaptor options are available:
-
Tack Swivel Adaptor – Fork/Eye (546-126-01) for conventional terminations such as thimbles or tack boards
-
Tack Swivel for Selden Nail Terminal (546-120-01), specifically designed to integrate directly with Selden’s Nail Terminal system
This modular approach allows the same furler to be used across multiple sail types, maximising versatility and long-term value.
