Ronstan Series 60 Furler – Drum, Bottom-Up (RS006000A)
The Ronstan Series 60 Bottom-Up Furler Drum is the driving force behind the system, delivering smooth, controlled furling performance in a compact and lightweight design. Engineered for small sailing boats up to 6m (20ft), it forms the lower load-bearing component of the Series 60 furling system, working in conjunction with the matching top swivel and continuous furling line.
At its core is an optimised drum diameter, carefully designed to balance furling power with speed and efficiency. The hard anodised aluminium drum features a ribbed rope groove profile, ensuring maximum grip on the furling line during operation. As the sail is deployed, the line cleanly self-ejects from the grip area, allowing fast, friction-free unfurling.
Internally, free-running stainless steel bearings and ball races minimise friction under load, enabling smooth, high-speed furling even in demanding conditions. A low-friction perimeter strip further enhances reliability by preventing the furling line from snagging or fouling as it runs onto and off the drum.
The drum is supplied with a standard D-shackle for attachment, but can be upgraded with the RF6170 snap shackle for faster, more convenient connection and release. For installations requiring a change in lead angle, the optional RF815 two-way link allows the drum orientation to be adjusted by 90°, providing greater flexibility in deck layouts.
Designed to integrate seamlessly with the Series 60 top swivel and pre-spliced continuous furling line, this drum is an essential component for building or maintaining a high-performance bottom-up furling system.
