Harken 57mm Carbo Air T2 Ratchamatic Block – 2× Grip
The Harken 57mm Carbo Air T2 Ratchamatic Block – 2× Grip combines Harken’s soft-attach T2 construction with advanced automatic ratchet technology to deliver high holding power with minimal weight. Designed primarily for racing dinghies, beach cats and sportboats, this block is part of Harken’s Power3 ratchet range, giving sailors multiple holding-power options to match different wind strengths and sailing styles.
This 2× Grip version is designed for stronger wind conditions, delivering 20:1 holding power to help sailors maintain control of highly loaded sheets without excessive effort. The ratchet mechanism engages automatically as line load increases and disengages when the load drops, allowing sheets to run freely when easing or during manoeuvres.
The block uses Harken’s T2 composite construction, eliminating metal shackles and rivets to reduce weight while maintaining excellent strength. Fibre-reinforced composite sideplates, an aluminium sheave and a minimal ratchet mechanism keep total weight to just 71g while providing a safe working load of 227kg for lines up to 10mm.
Attachment is via the T2 soft-attach system, supplied with a length of Spectra® line with a polyester cover. The lashing passes through the load-bearing centre of the block, reducing loads on the sideplates and providing an additional safety backup for the system. Soft attachment also allows the block to be positioned precisely to maintain a fair lead and enables ratchet adjustment close to the deck.
High-contrast directional markings clearly indicate the correct reeving and trimming direction, ensuring the ratchet engages correctly during use. The automatic Ratchamatic mechanism allows sheets to run freely when unloaded, helping mainsheets, jib sheets or asymmetric spinnaker sheets ease quickly during manoeuvres such as mark roundings or gybes.
