The C-Tech SnuffAir Size 01D is a high-capacity inflatable spinnaker snuffer developed for larger sailing yachts and bigger asymmetric spinnakers. Designed for spinnaker areas from 200–399m² and leech lengths up to 24m, this system delivers controlled, safe sail handling without the weight, bulk or risk associated with traditional rigid hoop systems.
At the core of the design is a soft inflatable ring that replaces hard structures entirely. This dramatically reduces the risk of damage to rigging, sails, deck hardware and crew, while also making the system significantly easier to handle on deck—especially in demanding conditions or short-handed sailing scenarios.

Advanced Sock & Chafe Guard Design
The Size 01D features an advanced chafe guard system that performs two key roles: protecting the inflatable bladder and creating a smooth, low-friction entry point for the spinnaker during hoists and drops.
The spinnaker sock is constructed from breathable polyester with excellent heat resistance, helping to manage friction and airflow when the sail is contained. A coloured sightline along the length of the sock allows crew to quickly identify twists—an essential feature for efficient handling, particularly in racing environments.
A modular zip system connects the chafe guard to the bladder and sock, allowing quick access for inspection, servicing or replacement of internal components.
Bladder & Inflation System
The inflatable bladder is engineered for reliability, ease of use and straightforward maintenance:
- Universal Boston valve for rapid inflation and deflation
- Recommended working pressure: 6 PSI
- Integrated pressure relief valve releases at approx. 10 PSI for safety
- Zip access for easy servicing or bladder replacement

Rigging & Handling
Each SnuffAir system is supplied ready-to-use with all key components included:
- Inflatable ring with chafe guard and bridles

- Dyneema head strop with neoprene protection
- Up/down control line
The load-tested Dyneema head strop features an integrated dogbone for fast, secure connection to the spinnaker. On versions with a rope pocket, a control block is integrated into the strop for smooth and efficient operation.
The system is designed to prevent sock prolapse and enables controlled hoisting and snuffing using only the supplied control lines.

As with all snuffers, best practice is typically to select a length slightly shorter than the spinnaker leech. The extended size range allows flexibility for different sail plans and rig geometries, but selecting a length close to the working leech length will deliver the best handling performance.
