Karver KRO12 Open Friction Ring
The Karver KRO12 Open Friction Ring is the largest in the KRO range, designed to guide continuous furling lines up to 12mm in diameter. Built for larger furling systems on cruising and offshore yachts, it ensures smooth, controlled line handling from the furler drum back to the cockpit—making it the ideal solution for standard 12mm furling lines.
The innovative open-slot design allows the furling line to be inserted or removed instantly, without the need to re-thread the system. This is particularly valuable on flying furlers, where ease of handling and quick rigging are essential. Once in place, the optimised internal profile allows the rope to run freely under load while remaining securely captured within the ring.
By keeping the furling line perfectly aligned into the drum and guiding it cleanly along stanchions or deck layouts, the KRO12 helps minimise friction and maximise furling efficiency—especially important on higher-load systems.
An integrated outer groove allows for the addition of a bungee cord or light control line, enabling the furling line to be tensioned when not in use. This keeps the rope neatly organised along the side decks, reducing slack and improving safety onboard.
Originally developed as a furling line guide and retrieval system, the KRO12 is also highly versatile. It is widely used for barber haulers, lazy jacks, reefing systems, and halyard deflection—anywhere a strong, low-friction solution is required.
