The Spinlock Deckvest 6D HRS 170N is a high-performance offshore lifejacket harness designed for serious sailing conditions. Combining Spinlock’s proven Deckvest comfort and ergonomics with the innovative Harness Release System (HRS™), the 6D offers sailors enhanced safety, mobility, and the ability to quickly release themselves from a tether in an emergency.

Providing 170N buoyancy, the Deckvest 6D is widely considered the ideal choice for offshore sailing. It delivers reliable flotation while maintaining a streamlined, low-profile fit that remains comfortable for long periods on deck. The enhanced shoulder fit system and smooth body adjuster ensure the lifejacket sits securely and comfortably, allowing the wearer to achieve a consistent fit throughout the day regardless of clothing layers.

At the core of the 6D HRS design is Spinlock’s Harness Release System (HRS™). This innovative feature allows the wearer to disconnect from their safety line by pulling a clearly positioned release handle located behind the soft loop tether attachment point. In a scenario where a sailor becomes trapped or dragged alongside the boat while clipped on, the system enables rapid separation from the tether while remaining protected by the inflated lifejacket. The harness release system is designed to be simple, reliable, and easy to reset after use while meeting the requirements of ISO12402 deck harness approval.

The Deckvest 6D uses the UML Pro Sensor Elite automatic inflator, a compact and lightweight water-sensitive inflation system. The inflator uses a compressed capsule that dissolves when submerged, releasing a spring that punctures the 33g CO₂ cylinder and inflates the lifejacket. The design ensures that only water entering the unit from below will activate the mechanism, preventing accidental inflation from rain, spray, or water running down the jacket.

A full range of integrated safety features is included as standard. The lifejacket is fitted with Spinlock’s Pylon™ 360° lifejacket light and Lume-On™ bladder illumination lights to improve visibility during night-time or low-light rescues. A newly designed sprayhood with a large structured visor is stored away from the neck for comfort and can be quickly deployed to help reduce the risk of secondary drowning.

The Deckvest 6D also benefits from numerous ergonomic and durability improvements. Hard-wearing coated fabrics are used in high-wear areas, while the enhanced back profile ensures a clean, unobtrusive fit against the body. The inflation system is positioned at the rear of the bladder for improved comfort and reduced snagging when inflated.

Additional practical details include an extra-wide 40mm single leg strap with a stowage pocket, tidy strap management, compatibility with the Ocean Signal MOB1 AIS beacon, and attachment points for optional accessories such as the Spinlock Chest Pack.

The Spinlock Deckvest 6D HRS 170N is available in five colour options: Citrus Yellow, Mercury Red, Pacific Blue, Tropic White, and Black. Product registration through Spinlock’s Through Life Support programme extends the warranty to five years.
