PROtect CHAFE is a pressure sensitive tape using ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) film with a strong modified acrylic adhesive. The result is a very tough material, with the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic presently made. It is highly resistant to corrosive chemicals with the exception of oxidizing acid. It has extremely low moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of friction. It is self-lubricating and is highly resistant to abrasion (15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel).
Typical applications: dragging lines over the deck, mooring ropes, mast and spreaders, under the boom to protect it from spinnaker/gennaker sheets, around pad eyes for blocks and hardware, dagger boards, stanchions and sails
Range: The product is available in two colours: translucent (PCT) and black (PCB), and in different gauges: PCT translucent in 76/125/250/250 micron and PCB black in 125/250/250 micron.
