The Diabolo universal joint is sold separately, in case a replacement is needed or as an upgrade to the swivel joint. The tiller extension with Diabolo joints are preferred by single-handed yachtsmen. Used in Mini Transat, Open 60s and many other boats predominantly tiller steered by autopilot.
