As most small boats are not equipped to handle a 2:1 halyard purchase system, the KFH Furling lock plus 3:1 purchase on the drum offers a flexible, high performance solution for top-down furling of asymmetric gennakers. This economical package includes the KF1 Furling drum, Karver KF1 3:1 Friction sheave, KFH1 Furling lock, spare drum lock, manual and storage bag. Unlike traditional code sail furling, top-down furling starts from the top of the sail by means of a tack swivel on the KSF furler that ensures the furling is safe and does not damage the gennaker. Drum: Karver continuous line furlers feature a unique drum locking mechanism to prevent the sail from accidentally unfurling which can be operated clutch free from the cockpit. Installation of a continuous furling line is quick and easy and requires no tools. The composite spool around the drum is shock absorbent and protects the drum, sail and deck from impact. The drum is extremely lightweight and compact with a captive pin system for connection of the cable to drum and swivel. It is fitted with a snap shackle as standard for easy connection to the deck. A range of 2:1/3:1 attachments are also available. Friction sheave: The Karver 3:1 Friction sheave can be used as a purchase system on the base of the drum or it is equally effective for a 2:1 purchase on the halyard. Furling lock: The KFH1 lock combines a lock and a swivel and is used in combination with with the drum. It is operated by a single hoist line: hoist the head of the sail until the lock engages and the halyard can be released and the furling lock becomes a standard top swivel. Re-tension the halyard and the sail can be lowered. The KFH eliminates stretch and creep, ensuring your halyard is at perfect hoist everytime and also reduces mast compression. All that remains is the selection of a suitable torsional cable or rope.
