Tack plates

Tack plates are used to attach a cableless code zero to the furling drum and swivel. They are sewn into the sail. Tack and head plates are permanently sewn into the sail with webbing straps and the pin hole interfaces with the furling drum and swivel. These are an essential component of cableless furling sails. They are generally purchased and installed by sailmakers and will be provided on your new cableless sail. A tack plate can also be used in conjunction with a torsional cable if the cable is built short and connected to the tack plate with a short lashing. This allows easy adjustment of luff tension of the sail relative to cable tension and also makes the torsional cable length less critical.
