Traditional genoa reefing systems have been used for years as a method of furling and reefing upwind headsails. The system relies on a furling drum connected via a torque tube to an aluminium forestay extrusion. An upper swivel allows the genoa to be hoisted and lowered. There are a large variety of reefing systems available on the market and specification is relatively easy, based on your existing wire forestay diameter / length. Special care must be taken with correct chainplate pin sizing.
